What are ferrite magnets

Although hard ferrite magnets are weaker than neodymium magnets in terms of magnetic force, they can, depending on the design, be suitable for temperatures of up to 250 °C, for example. Ferrite magnets are therefore characterised by high temperature resistance. They are also corrosion-resistant, making them suitable for many different outdoor applications. Ferrite magnets can also be resistant to certain oils, solvents and chemical influences, depending on the respective substance and operating conditions. Ferrite magnets: What material are they made of?
A distinction is made between two groups of ferrite magnets. There are metallic and ceramic permanent magnets. The ceramic material is hard ferrite. The metallic materials essentially consist of a combination of aluminium, cobalt and nickel or a combination of samarium and cobalt. All materials are available in a compact form and also in a plastic-bonded form. Various materials are added to change the properties. Hard ferrite magnets are often among the more cost-effective permanent magnets. They are among the most widely used permanent magnets.

Ferrite magnets are divided into two main categories as follows:
Isotropic ferrite magnets
Isotropic ferrite magnets are the significantly weaker form of this type of magnet. These magnets are produced dry using a pressing process. Due to this production process, however, isotropic magnets also offer the advantage that they can be magnetised in any direction and the magnetisation is very high.
Anisotropic ferrite magnets
Anisotropic magnets, on the other hand, are produced "wet". This means that they are produced wet in an injection mould. This is precisely why they are significantly stronger in terms of adhesive force. However, the influence of the applied magnetic field also directly determines a preferred direction.
