Footrests - for ergonomic sitting
Ergonomic footrests and footrests promote healthy sitting at the desk or in the office and good blood circulation in the legs. This can effectively reduce circulatory disorders and tension. In addition, the footrests also offer you a great deal of comfort if you sit at your desk all day and do your work in the office. With a footrest, you are opting for a practical helper that still achieves great benefits with little effort. You will find a whole range of different footrests in our assortment. Take a look around and choose your favourite.
Who should use a footrest
People are different sizes and therefore their body measurements differ considerably.
Therefore, anyone who works at a desk in a seated position should check whether they need a footrest. This is the case if your feet no longer reach the ground when the desk height is set correctly. Or if you have problems with cold feet or legs with poor circulation. The footrest is placed on the floor in front of your office chair. Now check whether you are sitting at the correct height. This is the case if the upper and lower arms form at least a right angle when placed on the table top. If this is not the case, you can adjust with a height-adjustable workstation or a height-adjustable desk chair.
Then check whether the feet reach the ground and combine with a footrest if necessary.
Because the footrest ensures an ergonomic working posture. It stands on the floor and is basically an elevation. It provides a comfortable rest for feet that would otherwise simply hang in the air. As well as being used in the office, the footrest is also enjoying increased demand in the home. This is because ergonomic sitting is also important in the home office and the use of a footrest makes sense.
What does a footrest need to offer?
A footrest always proves to be a real asset in the office. However, this is only true if you opt for a high-quality and functional model that has the most important features. A good footrest at the workplace should offer the following features:
- Flexibly adjustable: footrests should be adjustable in both height and angle. Ideally, the angle should be infinitely adjustable. Also make sure that the angle and height can be adjusted independently of each other in order to achieve good relief.
- No side brackets: To ensure that you can move your feet freely, it is important that there are no interfering brackets on the right or left side.
- Slip resistance: The feet should stand firmly on the surface and not slip off accidentally, even when changing postures. If the tread surface is non-slip, a secure footing can be guaranteed. This can be achieved using studs, carpet or a rubberised mat, for example. So take a close look at the footrest in detail.
- Ideally, the feet of the footrest should also be non-slip so that it does not move or wobble on its own.
- Footrest surface: The footrest surface should be as large as possible. The dimensions should be at least 45 x 35 cm as a footrest. The bigger, the better. This is because the feet should rest completely on the footrest to enable ergonomic sitting. The size of the footrest is therefore also an important indicator of the quality of the footrest.
- Surface: Footrests with special surfaces are practical. For example, there are nubs that can create a light massage effect to improve blood circulation in the feet.
How to adjust the footrest correctly
Ergonomic sitting can only be realised if you adjust the footrest correctly. The first important prerequisite is the correct adjustment of the chair. You have reached the correct seat height when your upper arms are vertical and your lower arms are parallel to the table surface.
Now your thighs should rest horizontally on the chair and form an angle of at least 90 °C with your lower legs. This prevents unnecessary pressure being exerted on the thighs, which could lead to circulatory problems.
Many people's feet no longer rest on the entire floor. The flexible footrest can help here. It equalises the distance between the sole of the foot and the floor.
At this point, it is also important that you change your working posture and sitting position several times a day, as this is the only way to avoid health problems in the long term. Alternating between standing and sitting work as well as movement during breaks can reduce back pain and headaches caused by tension.

Footrest
The classic footrest proves to be a useful desk all-rounder. The basic model is multi-adjustable and, in addition to 4 different levels, also offers you 4 tilt angles and a good footrest. A non-slip surface ensures that your feet are secure and do not slip off unintentionally. Apart from this, it is made from shatterproof and robust plastic.
Ergonomic footrest
The ergonomic footrest offers you even more comfort at your desk. It is fitted with a high-quality carpet covering. It is height-adjustable in 5 stages and has a particularly large footprint. It complies with current DIN standards and guidelines and has a nubbed surface. Use the detailed view in the individual product photos for inspiration. In addition, the support is designed to be self-locking, which prevents unintentional tilting.
Heated footrest
Feet can be very sensitive. Once they are cold, it is difficult to concentrate on your work. In the winter months, it is difficult to keep your feet warm, especially if you sit at your desk for long periods without moving. This is where the heated footplate on the footrest comes in handy. This is an ergonomic footrest that is fitted with a high-quality carpet covering and can be adjusted from 30 to 45 degrees. The footrest heats up quickly and you enjoy a cosy warmth. Apart from that, the footrest impresses with the usual features.
