What is a magnetic hook?

Magnetic hooks, or hook magnets, basically consist of two parts: a hook and a pot, also known as a steel pot. The hook is screwed into the pot and is equipped with a metric thread. This means that it can be unscrewed if required. Depending on the design, an eyelet can also be screwed in instead of the hook, turning the hook magnet into an eyelet magnet. Eyelet magnets are suitable, for example, for fastening objects that themselves have a hook and can therefore be attached to the eyelet. These products can be used for numerous everyday fastening tasks. Without an eyelet or hook, corresponding neodymium magnets can be very flat and may be referred to as flat pot magnets. They can be used for different applications at home, at school or in workshops. The magnet is made from a neodymium-iron-boron alloy and is set into the steel pot. This construction helps to concentrate the magnetic holding force of the respective model. The achievable holding force depends, among other things, on the mounting and load direction as well as on the characteristics of the surface.

High holding force of neodymium magnets

The material properties of neodymium magnets make it possible to produce magnetic hooks with a high magnetic holding force. Certain magnetic hooks with a diameter of 10 mm can achieve a holding force of up to 3 kg under the stated test conditions. Depending on the model, holding forces of up to 160 kg can be achieved under the stated test conditions. The load that can actually be supported depends on the respective operating conditions, the characteristics of the surface and the direction of the load. This results in numerous possible applications. Compared with many other permanent magnets, neodymium magnets offer high magnetic performance. Depending on the design, magnetic hooks can also be compact and discreet.
